Of course Canon rules...and I can show you an equal number of aviation phorographers who will tell you unequivocably that Nikon rules.
The reality for all of us non-pro photographers is that the whole Nikon/Canon debate is the same as Ford vs Chevy, ketchup vs mustard, Pepsi vs Coke, you name it. They're both excellent cameras, and each brand has its own strengths and weaknesses. But unless you are a pro, where the very little differences matter (and are largely a matter of preference
anyway!), the two brands both offer an equally high quality product.
I just purchased a D80 a few months ago while deployed to Afghanistan. I also was comparison shopping between the Canon Rebel XTi and the Nikon D80.
Honestly for me the decisionmaking process went like this: There is a Crew Chief in my squadron with the EOS Rebel XTi and another pilot who as a D80. I took them both flying with me and tested them out. The one I liked better in terms of how easy it was to use with my flight gloves on, ease to grip, balance, weight, etc, was the Nikon. They both were good quality cameras at close to the same price point, so it came down to ease of use for me.
Unless you are a professional photographer who all ready has lots of money vested in lenses and accessories from one particular brand, you can't go wrong with EITHER brand.
