Fellow WIXers and Mustang enthusiasts: Apologies for the following rant, but I have seen this too much and I've gotta say something:
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "Cavalier T.Mk 2" !!!!!
No matter where you've read it, where it's been printed, or what Mustang or warbird 'historian' wrote it in a book/article or whatnot, there is not -- nor has there ever been -- a Cavalier Mk 2, T. Mk 2, or any other of those "Mark" names which are of Commonwealth (not US) origin. This is nomenclature that has been
invented by a historian somewhere along the way. IT IS NOT CORRECT.
Please tell your friends and help eradicate this. Correct it in your own personal documents, too, if you have them.
The nomenclature is "
Cavalier TF-51D"...and that only applies to the specific dual-control TF configuration aircraft that Cavalier made/modified (N20TF is one of them). The other military Cavalier aircraft are called either "Cavalier F-51D" or "Cavalier Mustang II", depending on when they were built and what features they were built with. Only the TF-51s had dual controls, however they all had 2 seats.
That is all.
