Whoa...did they buy that Malcolm hood or did they go to the trouble to make a mold and pour it themselves? That is gonna look very cool! Wonder how Princess Elizabeth would look with one of those? Anyone ever see any pix of the Princess with a Malcolm hood or is that just another of my grand illusions

Pretty sure they made that hood from scratch.

I asked Jim about adding a hood to PE. After the Oshkosh crash I thought it would add some visability that is lacking from the stock canopy.
I don't think he wants to make that change at this time.
I have many other things to get done.

Roush P-51B OLD CROW

In May, at an open house at his collection in Livonia, Jack said the aircraft was in paint, and he hoped it would be ready for Oshkosh, if not, then GML. I guess there was more going on, since it still hasn't made an appearance yet. He did say that it would be painted as Anderson's Old Crow. I'll bet on this though...as soon as it is ready, we'll be seeing it roaring over Willow Run!

I was in the tower the week before Thunder Over Michigan when he made a "pylon turn" around the tower....Impressive!

It doesn't look like they are going for authenticity on the panel, but maybe the paint scheme will be a historically accurate one. I'm sure it will be up to the high standards of Jack's other planes.I have seen an original Malcom hood, but don't think I have ever seen one on a plane. I'd love to fly one and see what the visibility is like. A D model has excellent visiblity.

The Roush folks have fabricated a few pieces of Plexiglas for our -17 and -25, so I would imagine they would be up for a Malcolm Hood, as well.
