This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I hope you reconsider. I've always enjoyed your insight about many things and especially turrets.
I find that people who claim to be an"expert" usually aren't. The real experts are the ones who others have recognized as an "expert" through their experience and contact with them.
It's easy to jump into the fray and get all muddy, it's harder to stay above it all.
Stick around, 99% of us would like you to.
Blue skies,
Jerry
I was told once that the definition of an "expert" was: "X is an unknown quantity and "spurt" is a drip under pressure.

This would sadden me for the very reason you are considering leaving.
I don't enjoy the folks who default to snark in such discussions. I believe I can learn something from anyone, depending on their willingness to discuss.
If you follow through with this, we'll drop a percentage point, and all of us will become electronically dumber. That's not anything I need, so please help keep me smart...stick around.
Just close the threads that get dumb, and find some cool image Jack posted.

John,
I understand your reasons for leaving but will miss your posts greatly. I for one would like to see you stay on.

john, remember my p.m., & be aware these few posts from the gang only scratches the surface of the wixers in your corner. some of the group don't have the opportunity to post regularly, but they will be ultimately dissapointed down the road if they learn that you dropped out because of some ego maniac self righteous blowhards.

Nice snark, Phil. I disagree.
He's right, IMHO. Discussions around here that have had no reason to nosedive into the dumper have done so. Pretty sure if he'd have said 'Oh, so-and-so is being mean!' then it would constitute whining.
No names mentioned, no pleas for protection from ITGs (internet tough guys), so there's nary a whine in sight.

John, I'm with Jack Cook on this
I respect both you and your decision.
BUT......I hope you change you mind
I feel intimidated sometimes by some of the heated discussions that appear on WIX. But I also appreciate that there are a lot of decent folk too.
On balance I think the what I learn out weighs the "other" stuff, which is why, however busy I am, I try and visit WIX once a day!
As someone much wiser than me once said ~ when someone points a finger at you, they point three at themselves .............

I'm here for the contributions, myself, and it's not hard (although annoying) to ignore those remarks (and sometimes people) not worth engaging with.
I'd rather John stays (I've some questions for him) but there's more to life and warbirds than the Internet.

I never had a problem with with you. You didn 't drink from the Herbal Kool Aid so were all right by me.

Is it true that we all don't always see eye to eye? Sure. But I think that there is also alot to learn from these debates. I also think that I would be willing to buy anyone here a beer if we meet in person.

Thanks Phil...your little one sentence reply sums up exactly what I've been talking about. Feel free to sling personal insults if it makes you feel better but I think most of the folks on this site know exactly the type of person you really are. Oh and don't worry...I plan on leaving like a man. I just had to put in my 2 cents worth after reading your smart-azz reply.

John, I hate to see you leave, but I do respect you for speaking your mind, & your thoughts on this matter. I get a little torqued off at some of the Mickey Mouse stuff that goes on, but it seems the older I get - the less I let it get to me.
Best Regards
Robbie
