And Lynn, it's all headed this way. The gates will be wide open on Lake Livingston and it will still go over the top with that much water headed down hill. The Brazos is supposed to crest above flood stage at Rosharon this weekend.

Hey guys here's a real fast update...We got run out of our subdivision on 20 minuets notice due to some bonehead decision to kill all the power to the lower half of the peninsula even though the majority of it was well above water level. They told us (fire dept. personnel) that they planned to keep the power off until late Sunday or Monday. So, faced with no power, dwindling supplies and the forcast of multi inches more of rain until next weekend, I sent the family and the boys and the pets to my parent's home. My fire crew finally got to spool down and get some rest about 3:30 this morning. I managed to nap for two hours on the station floor after we decided to go on and fire up the genset on our fire engine and power up some ventalation fans on the station floor. I pulled out about 11:00 am and headed for my parent's place. Although the power is now back on in upper half of the subdivision and the evac order is recinded, there is going to be a re-evaluation in the morning due to additional heavy rain in the area and throughout the Possum Kingdom Lake watershed. We're staying put until at least Sunday and then we will evaluate what we are going to do.

Think windy for a couple of days and maybe we can dry out a little and recover from this. The next hurdle is going to be killing of the massive hoards of mosquitos that has accompanied all this water.

A friend took those pictures and I saw them on her computer. The river actually went up faster than 1:15 to 18.47 but the gauge did not show it. Pretty cool to see how fast this stuff happens in the hills. Been here all my life and have seen these wall of water episodes many times.

Every one was evacuated before the main flood happened.

The good news is that at least in the Marble Falls, Burnet, Lampassas, Briggs area we didn't have any serious rain yesterday or this morning. We were able to make all the necessary repairs on the roof, and had got some other good work done. Saw a C-5 from Robert Gray AAF briefly.
