Blackbird blue

Below is a link to pictures of the A-12 undergoing repair. Note the dark
blue color of the new replacement strake compared to the rest of the
aircraft.

this is weird. My realtor was a crewchief on theblackbird. His recollection was that it came straight from the factory black...

I wouldn't say he was wrong. I also saw some smaller
individual replacement pieces that were black. I helped
unpack them myself. However, absolutely without doubt,
when we opened the crate containing the strake it was
blue.

That is the USS Drum SS 228 , maybe the safest place to hide in a hurricane ! :D
