Who is Col Rohr? And what should my response to that have been? I certainly hope that you don't think of me as being disrespectful if that is the case. When I said that I don't want to start a debate it was out of respect for the person that started a thread about bringing a Tigercat here, and shared pics with us. I didn't want to start a debate about operation over water in this person's thread.

Mr. Rohr has ask that his name be left out of this as he is no longer a member and cannot respond! As his friend I am also requesting the same. This may be meant in good fun, but, considering the circumstances involving his disassociation with the WIX, I think this would be a good to drop.

I really meant no disrespect, I just didn't know who that was.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but whats the story about this Tigercat? Who owns it, where is it based etc. I'd love to see it fly someday! What a sweet airplane.

If you own a warbird you can pretty much do/fly want you want to do with it. The 1st thing that I thought when I saw the thread is that carl made it safe to his destination ( his safety is the most important thing here ).

End of

Martyn

Good to see that the Tigercat and Carl Schofield have made it safely across the pound.

Shame to see her go though, as I have fond memories of her at Flying Legends, being displayed by Pete Kynsey, along with Mr Schofield in the Bearcat.

However, the one display that sticks in my mind is the two solo slots that Pete did on the Sunday at the 2005 show when the Bearcat went sick.

A stunning display, showing just how fast and manoeuvrable this large aircraft is. :D

I must post the video of it I shot on YouTube!

Cheers

Paul

Yep, and not all those listed are survivors, several being destroyed during their firebomber careers.

There are only 3 or so still flying - Bob Pond's, the ex-TFC one and Mike Brown's from memory, with the former Plane Sailing / Dick Bertea and Mike Bogue / Gary Flanders examples under restoration.

Hi all--

Glad to hear Mr Schofield and the F7F had a safe voyage. It's no Fury  , but yes, the Tigercat registers pretty high on the cool-meter...

Only F7F I ever saw fly was one that is happily extant, but sadly is grounded now--the Kalamazoo "Air Zoo" example. But oh, how I saw that one flown. With John Ellis at the pole, it was one half of the incredible duet routine KAHM and the Navy put together and, thankfully, chose to perform at one of the three NWM Wings Of Eagles events at Batavia, NY. The other half of the duet was LCdr Dale "Snort" Snodgrass, in a VF-101 F-14. It was over a decade ago now, but I shall never forget it. There'll be a good few other WIXers for whom that routine is an indelible memory too...

Oh, and BTW, Hamilton's CFL football team is the Tiger-Cats; slightly different spelling but same name. (The team at McMaster University, where I work, are the Marauders: cool-looking twin-radial Warbirds are the order of the day, it seems, when naming football teams hereabouts!)

S.

OK, before I place my vote I need to know a couple things.

First, I have never seen a Tigercat before. So I want to know the following.

When was it in service, did it see war?
How fast is it?
What range does it have?
what kind of crew, looks like 2
what type of armament?
Also, what are those ducts on the leading edge for?
