Marine Air...Where'd you get the idea that I was English? I'm a Virginian who's been transplanted to West-by-god.

I actually have very good hand-eye coordination/depth perception. How many of you can hit an 85 mile an hour fastball? I can and did...TODAY.
About 25 of 'em to be honest. (There's a batting cage about 2 miles from me.)

Maybe doing low passes is not such a bad idea if there's a crosswind. I'll suggest that on Monday

Mudge the persistent 8)

ps...I'll be 72 on 6/17.

hi mudge,

Keep it up and don't get too discouraged. As many of the folks
have already said this too shall pass.

One thing to offer - when you're in the pattern and you know
you have a xwind, are you feeling like you're "behind" the airplane?
Meaning are your setups on altitude, engine power, flaps, etc.
all coming in ok according to your instructors? Do you feel
rushed on final? Mentally? While I was learning my private
I found myself rushing in my mind to the point it affected my flare.
My instructor told me to relax, not tense up and just fly the plane
and it seemed to work. Then again maybe it was just more
practice. :-) You'll get there.. just keep it up and you'll do fine.

Aw Mudge,
You know I'm a big fan of you and your current endeavour. Thought you were English for some reason. You know that Virginia Planter's dialect isn't that different from the Queen's english. That explains everything; you're giving yourself a pep talk during each landing attempt, and your syrupy Virginia/ West Va. accent is getting you behind the airplane.
Try lowering more flaps to slow the airplane down to the rate of which your "William F. Buckley" accent can accomodate!
