This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I think "Steel Tiger" was a great name for your plane...nicely done!
Like many of you, I think this is a symptom of a greater problem. Political correctness has grown from just a buzz word in the 90's to affecting our national security policy...either it changes or we're in big trouble.
Just my $0.02.

In the UK and Australia, "fanny" means a different part of the female anatomy than the butt!
I always thought that name was one of the best "sneaker" pieces of racy aircraft names just for that reason.

Liberalism is a mental disorder.
For the record, I consider myself mostly libertarian..but as long as we're pointing fingers, it seems to me the "I'm offended by anything sexual" is more of a right-wing attitude. Wasn't it Dubbya's Attorney General who ordered the bare breasts covered up on the "justice" statue? Not trying to stir up trouble, just trying to make the point that the PC crap comes from both sides..
I for one love nose art..heck, I belong to a life-drawing group that gets together once a week and sketches naked models.

Could you do me a favor and refrain from calling me mentally diseased? I am a veteran, like many in here. I was retired from active duty due to wounds. I vote Democrat and grit my teeth when the left wing crazies act out, just as many conservatives vote Republican and grit their teeth when yet another right wing loon acts out.
In my personal experience, the people who have greatly damaged Army culture, and military culture in general, tend to be straight laced religous people. There isn't much deep thought about the definition of "right"--when some group howls every body else has to toe the line regardless of the sanity of the howler. Either way, it's the guy behind the stick who pays.

My 0-2 referred to "Proverbs 21:31" in its original VietNam war markings which I retained. What if I'm a cloth head??? Am I offended? NO!
PC is out of control. The big 'F' word and others are used in every movie/TV show/music imaginable and we see pics of Paris H. 'doing it in a car' with little or nothing on the any news channel so where is this self-righteous stuff coming from?
A few naked women while the boys are in harms way, so what!

ah but would you make the whole wing take off it's nose art because a few naked bottoms were being shown? Of course not. Nor should anyone have the right to judge what YOU paint on the nose of your plane (well, within reason) It's the nutbags of ANY perspective taht make the rest of us miserable.

Below is a link to an example of "Politically Correct"
nose art. I like it but it just doesn't have the flair of
the female form.............

Did anyone ever find examples of the nose art of
the two named young ladies that was so objectionable?

Why is it that people are forcing me to become Archie Bunker. F#$% terrorists that might be offended. Who cares. I am offended that muslims flew two planes into the WTC on 9/11. No one gives a s#$% about that. I am tired of hearing this crap about Muslim stuff. Really read into their religion. It is a violent religion. I am not saying that all Muslims are bad or anything like that, but let's not kid everyone either.

Owen, In your 4th post you posted a link with a photo of one of them. The
silhouetted image in the background of Michelle Marsh autographing the jet.
Apparently the silhouetted image of the female form is enough to drive a Muslim man to
carnal madness.

Yeah, they're mild as lambs until a mullah shows up pining for the "good ol' days" of the
10th century...then sh*t hits the fan real quick...

HI Airnutz,
I did indeed post a link to the shot of her signing
the jet. In my reading of the various articles at the
time I came to believe that there was an earlier ver-
sion of the image that was, er, more detailed. First
the RAF decreed that only the silouette could appear,
then banned it alltogether. I would like to find the
images in their original form. Can anyone help??
Blue skies,
Owen

A somewhat unknown and unseen type of current a/c art is A-10 Ladder door art.
If you ever get a chance, ask to see behind an A-10's ladder door.
Many have all sorts of works of art in the nose art tradition!
Here is one I was able to see just a few weeks ago.
There are many more out there.
