Thanks for the tips. The list is revised below...

Mike

As usual here is the list of “Need Help” items…
#1: There may be a T-28 displayed at Bolling AFB near Alexandria. Where exactly is it?

#2: Apparently there is a F-86 displayed in a playground in Washington. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

#4: Can anyone confirm there is a UH-1 displayed near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall?

Mike,

I have looked extensively in the area of the Vietnam Memorial, using Microsoft's Live Search and it's Birds-Eye feature, but see no UH-1.

I will be in DC over this upcoming week-end and next week, so I'll look closely.

I can't imagine where the huey would be. I have toured down there a good bit and never saw it.

Thanks Gents! Since you will be there soon Walt, I will wait for you to report and change the entry then.

Can't find a T-28 on Boling AFB, but there's one on the Anacostia Naval Annex, here:

The F-86 is/was located in the JFK Recreation center Playground, at 6th and "P" Street. A listing of F-86 survivors shows it in the NE corner of the park, under some trees. Live Search photos show this area well, but can't see the F-86.

I'll check it out over the week-end.

Good job Walt! That must be it.

Tonight's upload.

There is no UH-1 by the Viet Nam memorial, nor do I believe there ever was one.

There was an F-86 beside the road on North Capitol St. in front of the Old Soldier's Home. You can't see it in the Google Maps, but I am sure that it is there... I also seem to remember seeing an additional 50's fighter jet beside it when I was driven past a few years ago, but I could be mistaken. I was so frustrated not to have been able to stop, but I wasn't driving, and we were in a hurry!

Old Soldier's home main complex can be seen here...

The corsair hanging from the roof in the Navy Museum is actually not an F4U-4, but FG-1D, Bu.92103, unless they made a switch recently.

Cheers,
Richard

Further to Richard's comment: I drive North Capitol street on almost a daily basis. There is a tank next to the F-86, but currently the F-86 is the only plane visible on the grounds. I'll try to take a pic next time I pass.

The F-86 at the Old Soldiers Home is here:

Thanks Walt. I have included “Eye-Sight” coordinates in the NE corner of the park. If the Sabre is no longer there, please let me know.

Thanks Richard. I’ll change the entry so it shows up as a false report.

Good team work guys!

Have you been there Richard? I have an approximate (Area) location as…
http://www.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=3 ... =1&iwloc=A
Can you give me one that is closer to the mark?

Other than the location of the Navy Museum and potentially any other sites which are unknown to the Locator, the DC section is wrapped up. I am sure Stephanie will be pleased. Thanks to everyone who chipped in. I am impressed with the team work.

I must have mis-understood. It will be corrected in tonight's upload.

Thanks Walt!

Mike,

I checked out the F-86 which was supposed to be at the JFK Playground, at 6th and P street, and it's not there as of today.

If I live to be 100 years old, I will never drive around in Washington again. Today was enough to last me the rest of my life.

I also saw the HU-16 at the Martin State Airport.

Thanks for this Walt. So I guess public transit is the way to get around Washington?
