Just goes to show you that even the P-40 did'nt like a hairdressers airplane.

that one is a closeup i actually hadn't seen before, many years ago i was paging through an otherwise uninteresting book in one of our more seedy public libraries when i stumbled on a picture showing Don Lopez and 1 or 2 other guys standing around the nose of the P-40 (possibly taken immediately after the accident). I have no idea what the book was, in fact it may not have been an aviation book. anyway the picture in this thread is very helpful too!!

thanks guys

Hey Jack, on that P-40, #13, would the rudder stripes have been red and white US Army Air Corps or blue and white to match the Chinese nationalist insignia?

Do you still have pictures of the P-40 eating the wingtip off of the Val at T-82 about 10 years ago Lynn? I might be able to find one but haven't got a clue how to post one. If nothing else I guess I could take a picture of the pieces on my wall of shame.

Chinese tail stripes were blue/white.
