Not exactly a warbird, but my wife bought me a gift certificate for a WACO ride, but because my birthday was in late November I'm waiting til Spring to use it.

Other than that, I'll just keep my fingers crossed

I plan on it. I also plan on buying a ride on Aluminum Overcast this year at Oshkosh. I flew Fuddy Duddy over Oshkosh a few years ago, but I love the B-17 and want to do it again. I know that I will be buying a ride, but I figure the money goes to a good place with them.

I was going to try and take the kids on Aluminum Overcast at Oshkosh last year until I found out the wait was nearly 7 hours long!!! :x Whatever you do make sure you book the flight early when you get there because there will be plenty of others waiting in front of you.

I can't quote you this for certain, but "Yankee Lady" will probably be in Janesville, WI again this year. Not sure if you want to head that far south, but there should be considerably less waiting, and an equally beautiful B-17G.

When we were there last season we didn't do nearly as much ride business as expected. The weather was lousy though, which hurt attendance.

By all means. As I'm sure you've guessed, it won't be in a P-38 or a Spitfire. :(
Been considering maybe one of the Stallion 51 dual control a/c.
Haven't heard whether Ed Kurdzeil ever takes anyone up in the Firefly. That's another one I'd like to ride in, even if it's not a "dually".

Mudge the limited :(

I never have any plans to ride in anything but an airliner and the Piper Warrior I rent.
Every year I always seem fortunate enough to ride in a Warbird or get a chance to fly one. In 2006 it was a B-17, a Huey and an AT-6.

I DO hope for the opportunity to hop in an A-26 some day, any day, any year, as it's that last major US WWII bomber that I have never flown in.
I would also like to go for a spin in an SBD, but that will happen when our paths cross again.

As the year progesses, and opportunity knocks, that is when my decision will be made. Hopefully, it will happen a lot! :D

Blue skies,
Jerry

I have a dream to fly in a Mustang before my 40th birthday (which is in about 4 years). Will this be the year? Who knows.

WHY?

I saw a placard on a Lear 60 windshield that read...

CAUTION
DO NOT FLY!

So I took it right out of context, copied it and put it on the back of my toolbox!

First let me say sorry for being a tad late responding to this thread ~ seasonal festivities got in the way ...

Mudge and Airdales ~ for a "twin stick" P-51 ride / SBD check out

http://www.dixiewing.org/

The really BAD news is they may offer you a deal on the price if you want to fly in both ...... The mustang is AWESOME, flown by Stan Musik ~ the Dauntless is rare and a significant historic type ..... And they were willing to take a credit card :D It would have been rude to have walked away without flying with them.

B-17 riders at Oshkosh ..... book early ( May / June ) on-line via the EAA website for the first ride of the day. Go straight out to Appleton Airport if possible and hitch the mini van into Oshkosh once you've flown.

I've done this three times now ~ 28th July is MY day. Why ??? 28th July was the day on which the Model 299 prototype first flew.

Personally ~ having "done" most of the B-17's that sell rides, I'm now having to resort to creeping up behind unsuspecting operators and asking would they care to fly 220 pounds of self-loading ballast.

Ummmm ~ paging Dean about "Chuckie" ...........

Hi Guys,

Man-o-man....I would LOVE to live one of my dreams. A flight in either a B-17, B-24, or a B-25 would DEFINITELY be high on my wish list. But would JUMP at the chance for a hop in a Mustang.

Paul
