This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Yes, the Red Bull B-25 is tastefully done. Hopefully the P-38 will be bare metal in a similar fashion and not painted in bright colors. Here's a picture I took of the B-25 in Salzburg, Austria three months ago on Sept. 15, 2006.

I could live with that. That is a great looking B-25.

What is the pod under the wing out about where the landing lights would be? Never noticed that before.

That's a Cessna 210 radar pod. When we put that airplane together (I was fortunate enough to be working at Nelson's place then), we couldn't believe they wanted that on there, but I reckon it is a nice thing to have in the often times dreary weather conditions in Austria. The whole airplane is pretty dang fancy inside. Not original by any means, but very corporate-like.

It's their airplane, they can do with it what they wish. I'm just glad that Red Bull likes these old Warbirds and isn't into boats or something.

Thanks Gary! :D

Wasn't what I expected it to be though. :D :D

I could live with the P-38 fixed up like that :D .

Maybe with the P-38, they will get a Garmin 430 and used XM weather, a better setup and smaller antenna  I would plan on the polished look for the P-38 8)

Red Bull Update

Wed Dec 20, 2006 11:29 pm

Well on the way out to Midland, we just had to stop by BKD to say hello to the Ezell's, plus Randy, Steve, John and the rest of the crew. So, in addition, I just happen to have the camera out for a few pics..... Steve told me I had missed Lynn Allen by about 30 minutes.... So, for the P-38, they had just finished mating the L wing to the airplane. She looks awfully good. The plan is for engines to be running by April. Alan

Alan, if I knew you where coming, I'd would have waited, my 172 would have turned into a pumpkin @ 3pm. They are really doing a world class job as always on that P-38..... 8)

Another update on the P-38! Initial gear swing for clearance and tolerance check......... When this baby rolls out of the hanger in the sunshine, you better have your shades out and sunblock on!

Wow! I would love to see her at Oshkosh. I wonder if she will be ready in time.

Any word on where she's at? Last update on the web site was end of March (Forgive my impatience :? )

You should see it in person, wow..... Another great restoration by Nelson Ezell. That was one of the greatest thing about going to the Breckenridge Airshow every year, to see what was there being worked on and shoot the potato guns, and the Bud Girls, and the BBQ, etc  ......

I still would like to see the P-38 in (at least temp markings) with the Pre-War star and mini meatball on it and with the red and white tail feathers.

Now that P-38 is located in Texas, while Glacier Girl is also located there.

A photo flight of two early lightings in OD and bare metal?

Sign me up!

Lynn, If I could I would but Texas is a ways away for this Western Canadian warbird nut. :) Do they allow said warbird nuts in for a look-see?
