Well said. All of the above would cost it points. This award is for modified warbirds, like a “Resto-mod” category for cars. A T-34 that also won this award looked like an F-16 inside, but it would have gotten 0 cockpit points as a Warbird.

Oh man, that's such a shame. Saturday was a bad day at Oshkosh. I was not far from the accident at ultralights. I didn't see it, but I'll never forget the sound. Four people and four aircraft lost in the span of 3 hours.

I took a bunch of reference pictures of that T-6 as well.

Interesting to see Mike George’s name on the awards list for a Cessna 150 - a name more usually associated with his P-51 and F4U.

Here is a guy breaking down the Texan crash.
I know alot of folks here have problems with youtube "experts" examining crashes but this guy has owned and flown more than one T-6, uses ADSB info to break down what happened frame by frame in a very professional, respectful way.
I never knew the T-6 is considered a tricky aircraft to fly, and its stall/spin characteristic under certain conditions is well known https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ktf6LwYG8k

I wish EAA would publish something with photos of all the award winners, whether it's a press release, special edition of Sport Aviation or some other publication we could pay for. Even if it's just the Lindy's. I know what most or all of the warbird winners look like and can usually figure out about half of the Vintage winners when I attend, but it would be nice to see photos of these with the Homebuilts, Seaplanes, Contemporary, etc.
