What is a "C-47 Static Demonstration Team?" Does this mean a "team" involved with coordinating a C-47 Static Display on the ramp??

Or do you mean a team of jumpers who will do a static line parachute jump from a C-47? - that would be interesting.

Saturday's Photo Tour/Pit area is now sold out.

A few spots remain for Sunday.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Very off topic here, sorry... :(

But for the 2012 show I think it would be great to see a jet warbird show. :D :D I dont think anyone has ever really done this. Now that there are two Huns flying, several F-104's, several A-4's, the Collings F-4 and maybe future F-105, then all the Sabres, T-33's, etc. Even if you would have to charge $30-40 per person for general admission to help pay for the gas costs so be it. I would pay up any ammont to see a bunch of jet warbirds up. Even a few migs too! :D

I agree with you Nathan - I would pay a lot more than $30 to $40 to see a jet warbird lineup like the one you mentioned above. :D

Realistically, I think it would be difficult to fund that large of a number of jets at one show, but Michael Luther has mentioned the possibility of a Korean War theme in 2012 with a potential "Gathering of Sabres" as a sub-theme. Seeing perhaps 5, 6, 7 or even 8 Sabres there along with some T-33's and some other Korean War era jets and prop aircraft would make one outstanding Thunder Over Michigan.

Back to this year's show...A Centennial Paint Scheme P-3 Orion from Atsugi, Japan has come to NAS Jax in Florida and apparently will be present for some other Centennial shows in the U.S. this year.

http://jacksonville.com/military/jax-ai ... on-nas-jax

Wouldn't it be terrific if Thunder Over Michigan could get this P-3 to come up in July and be involved with a "Legacy" type flight with the PBY Catalina scheduled to be there? That would be a terrific tribute to the Battle of Midway in WWII and an unbelievable sight to see.

Can't wait to see what other CONA Heritage paint scheme birds and civilian owned vintage warbirds may be added to the aircraft list as we get closer to July.....

Well...there's two of you who'd pay that.
Realistically, I'm not confident there'd be enough "John Q. Public" who would pay that much. I could be wrong. After all, I told Orville, to his face, "You've gone 'round the bend. If man was meant to fly, there'd be a FAA."

Mudge the mistaken

It was just announced that Fifi will be at Oshkosh. Could we possibly see a similar announcement here soon?

I'm really hoping that a few cats make the list. I really want to see a Tigercat fly! I can't see how a Navy theme can be without a Hellcat, if I had the cash to fund one I'd be on it, but I don't.

So I do understand if there are a few cats missing from the line up.

Tim

I've never seen a Tigercat on the ground in person let alone fly! I figured this show would be my only chance to see one short of going out west where all matter of cats fly. Still hoping for a miracle as that is probably what it will take.

Gonna be a fun year and a big show. Better delay that hangar construction till afterwards, you'll need the field for parking.

the only way see a new hanger up, the DETROIT LOINS WON THE SUPER BOWL, donations has been coming in for seven years, if you ask how much money you for the hanger, the answer is don't have any, something SMELLS!

A USN P-3C Orion from VP-16 "War Eagles" has been confirmed for static display.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Tom, glad to hear that a P-3 Orion is coming to the show. Since it will be a "STATIC" only, I hope that this one and a good portion of the other current Navy/Marine/Coast Guard aircraft which will likely be statics only also, will be among the aircraft arriving on Friday during "Taxiway Photography" so we can see them in the air.

What the heck does being a "Tier One Event" For the Navy mean? I was really expecting to see more (maybe "some" would be better wording) active duty aircraft demos for the airshows.

Sorry to bring this up in the Thunder thread but I a bit shocked that there doesn't seem to be a respectable number of Navy Demos lined up.

Please fill me in if I'm missing something here.

Tim

I'd love to see both a Grumman Duck and Flying Barrel
