Why not have a "real" reunion at Club Med in Guyamas, Mexico!
The location of the runway they built for the movie is right near by and after you cut through a ton of red tape and spent a ton of money on resurfacing it, you could fly all the available "Catch-22" Mitchells back to the scene of the crime!
Might be a heck of a party on Yossarian's beach!

I wouldn't want to run the risk of loosing a B-25 and/or crew to the cross wind there. Plus we need to keep our USSA dollars at home, and I can drive to SA or Houston.
from that wikkiii thing
Paramount planned to film the Catch-22 aerial sequences for six weeks, but the production required three months to shoot and the bombers flew a total of about 1,500 hours. They would appear on screen for 12 minutes.
Is that about right Stoney??
Fifteen of the 18 bombers used in the film still remain intact, including one on display at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum. Is N10564 still in storage and on flat tires by now I imagine. Anyone Anyone.
If anyone has any photos of the ships below, Please let me Know I'm looking for any photos I can locate of them prior to, during (Bless you Stoney Stonich), and immediatley after +- a couple of years. Digital photo database needs the additions. Contact me direct through my PM or email.

Lucky for me before my HD died I'd sent a copy of all my Catch 22 slides to a fellow Catch 22 pilot and he sent me back a copy of the disk.

I have been wondering about the lists of "Catch 22" Mitchells. They all say that N9451Z was 6V, but this photo from post #1 clearly show that N9452Z wears 6V. Did they change codes frequently, or has 6V been mis-identified in previous years?

Yeah, I saw that too, and was also perplexed by the marking. I noticed that when Stoney posted it, and thought the same thing. I believe it to be one of those "Oh Well" kinda things of which no one can splaine, or worth the effort as the photo clearly shows the contradictory

For what it's worth, I have an airplane listing form used for crew assignments that shows the letters assigned to each B-25 and there are, indeed, two "V"s, the listing showing one as V1 and the other as V2. I would presume it was duplicated for some sort of filming deal. I plan to scan the sheet and include it with a crew listing page to be added to some other
Catch-22 information at

I like the weathered look of the bombers in these photos , they look like 'working' aircraft
Sometimes I think we over-restore aircraft these days.
I remember seeing the HARS Neptune at an airshow in Sydney in 1988 , it hadn't been painted or restored and looked like it had just done a ferry flight after being parked for 10 yrs ... looked cool , got to have oil streaks on the cowls ... "rat warbirds ?" (like rat rods

)

Personally, I think they should be restored to a "new" appearance, and then flown enough to give them that "working" look.

I like that idea Gary, plus, I would like to see a 50's era training bird, and a nice Civilian VIP version. Now if PA would buy Scholls B Model airframe and restore it! Too bad we are screwed on an Alpha and G Model.

Hi all,
Just resurrecting an old thread. I was reminiscing about a B-25J I used to work on as volunteer flight crew member. We used to do the airshow circuit on the West Coast and fly-in for other events.
"Our" plane was used in Catch-22 and I was looking for some more old photos of the M&M scheme. That's when I found this...
This aircraft, that I never noticed is actually a grey-scale camo pattern...
Jack Cook wrote:...

(The other a/c M&M posted her is the General Dreedle a/c. The stacks are in different positions and it still has the curtains in the windows aside from the white-wall tires. Believe me, I know just about very rivet, ding and doodle.)Which is this aircraft that in March of 1972 flew from Santa Ana, Ca. to Van Nuys, Ca. Still painted in the "Catch 22" Milo Minderbinder "M & M" film scheme. "Miss Renee" was painted on for the ferry flight only.

And later to became what, some of you may now know as,

Mike, the former owner passed away not too long ago and his plane is up for sale.
http://www.platinumfighters.com/#!b-25-n8195h/c18kxMike will be missed, he was quite the character.
I hope this adds a bit more perspective on where some of these aircraft are now.
Best regards,
Douglas
