This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

With all due respect to the warbirds...
The Stinsons, Travel Airs, Howards and Ryan are great
Love the Stinson Tri-Motor.

Also L-13 and the UC-78/AT-17s...Neat stuff!

Also, love the new helicopter which seems to be powered by many drone type systems.
Imagine, the VTOL capabilities of a helicopter w/o an expensive transmission, torque and tail rotor issues.
Of course, it still won't be inexpensive!

Utterly appalled that K-Kid and I are your only suppliers of pics so far. Basic human compassion behooves a few more.

I took a few thousand pictures, but haven't really had a chance to go through them yet, so here are a few.

Here's couple of Heritage/Legacy flights. Between the humidity and the wildfire smoke, ground to air photography pretty much stunk...

You got that right. Even days late in the week with blue skies and sparse clouds were obscured with haze from the wildfires.

And the Monday and Tuesday right after the show were beautiful here. Much better than no show at all, though!

Lucky to see it's arrival, it was the only time I saw the Hellcat fly.

I feel the same way. The latest premier warbirds and heavy iron are awesome, but I think Vintage is the true heart of Oshkosh. The workmanship on display there always impresses me and there's always something I'd never expect to see - this year, that was the Ryan SCW and Stinson Detroiter for me. I also have a real soft spot for Fairchild 24s. The aircraft designers of the 20s and 30s were artists as much as they were engineers.

I also always spend a good amount of time looking at L-Birds and some of the less popular trainer types like the N3Ns, BT-13s, Cornells, etc. There are just as many interesting stories associated with these types as some of the fighters.

Thanks for sharing the great photos Matt! I've got a question about one of them. Scrolling down about 1/3 the way is either a very unusual looking aircraft or photo. It's black, multi-prop, and labelled "BEE" behind the cockpit. Got any more photos or info? Google was not my friend... pop2

That's the Blackfly:

Thanks also from me for sharing all the fantastic pics, hopefully one day I'll make it across the Pond for Oshkosh again... twenty years since my first visit (Boeing 307 was the star that year!).
