TEXAS RAIDERS made it through OK.
We lost a panel off the corner of the hangar. Some water blew in under the door.
But the power poles around the airport are broken like toothpicks.
Other hangars at Hobby were not so lucky.
Some doors were blown off their tracks and StarFlight had its glass windows blown in.
Pearland had a mini-twister touch down and at least five airplanes were damaged and some bldgs. destroyed. Randy Wahlberg's just had its doors pushed in, but nothing totally destroyed.
LaPorte had some sort of passenger biplane that is now in two pieces.
Ellington is operational... President One just landed.
West Houston Sqdn. CAF is fine.
Sick to hear of LSFM... Other than hearing about a couple of feet on the airport I haven't heard squat until getting on WIX.
On a personal level... many members, friends and loved ones have had damage to homes. I spent yesterday cutting a sycamore tree OUT of a friends roof with a chainsaw and some bow saws. I am getting too old for this stuff.
That's all I know for now...

Saw a pic of a grey AN-2 torn in half and upside down on a Houston news channel. Probably the "Passenger Biplane".

Saw on the news today they are letting Galveston residents only onto the island to look at their houses, but have to leave today. Ariel news shot showed a 3 lane backup at least a mile long of people trying to get on the island

That was rescinded a few hours ago - no more will be allowed for now.

Geeezzz, looking at the shots on Lone Star's website just makes me sick! Reminds me of Tom Reily's museum when it was in Kissimmee.
Hope everyone is ok, and the rebuild starts soon.

What a heartbreak!
Glad everybody's OK, but man..what a tragic loss. I saw the wing of the PB4Y in a couple of shots..anybody know how she weathered the storm? That's one I've really been looking forward to seeing restored.

Better check those TFRs. Things are pretty tight down there.

Spent today reducing an 'exploded' tree to curbside hauloff at the folks house. Tomorrow(today, now), I'll run south to my apartment to drag out wet carpet and fire up the fans to dry the place out, then north to central Houston to pickup our trailer from a family member(helping him unload the Hardiboard). He was unsure of his exact schedule because he may get tied-up in gaslines for fuel for an out of town trip the next day. He was short 5
gallons..enough to get him out of range of the "shortage area". Luckily for him(and me) he could keep 'our' schedule because family brought me 15 gallons today from NW Houston and I would bring 10 gallons to keep our
appointment a get him going where he needs to go...crazy..but it works!!!!
LaPorte had some sort of passenger biplane that is now in two pieces.
As others point out after your post Spanner, a gray(and red) AN-2. On my last tool drop to Pasadena I passed
by LP and saw the AN-2 folks doubling up the tie-downs with her facing east, and I thought "This ain't gona be good"
This is the former Rio Hondo Texas Air Museum AN-2, which was rather infamously towed to these parts years
ago with her tailwheel tied down to a pickup truck bed on her main landing gear..so the story goes. I'd read
that story before, and the owner reiterated it when I spoke with him a few years back. They had just got her all back together earlier this year....sad!!

Too much carnage...

Hey Zane,
Thanks for checking in. We just managed to get power back yesterday evening, but we've still been busy getting trees and fences cleaned up. That is our only obstacle here in the house.
Everything CF related it absolutely fine. As you know, the A-4 is at Addison, and the Huey is in Conroe. We had very little damage to our 4 hangars at Ellington, so we came out of it on the lucky side.
On the plus side for everyone in the Houston area, the normal High and extreme heat that follows a hurricane didn't occur. Instead we recieved our first cool front of the year that dropped temps into the low 60s at night, so that has made cleaning up and the lack of power very bearable.
