Depends on the year this was taken; Baby was in the USA by '73, and this plane looks like it has only one window in the nose, rather than two (which also isn't ripped down the side like Baby's was at that point). The tail looks like it's painted OD as well.

F-BEEC on the right is now Thunder Bird.

Edit: Take a look at this photo from F3V (Cedric)'s IGN blog: same single nose window and same blade on top of the nose - it's probably F-BDRS.

Just been to look at the original slide - dated Summer '72. Sadly, no precise date though.

Another, but recent view, of the NASA F-104 (N825NA) above taken at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA 2010.

Wow, I didn't know Thunderbird ever had a '104. Don't recall ever seeing it at Deer Valley.

Although it didn't wear this scheme, I saw another F-104B with Thunderbird at Deer Valley in 1994.

Jim Robinson's F-104 was registered N104JR wearing the same paint scheme as the T-33 previously posted and later went to the EAA Museum in Osh, along with several of the other aircraft.

This is an excellent thread. I love seeing these aircraft in there non-military schemes. I have captured all the images and would like to use them in the registry if possible. Please PM me if it's okay and if so what the credit should be (ie... John Doe Collection etc...) If I don't get a PM I will assume permission is not given and won't use them. Thanks for posting!

Great photos Johan. Good to see that Mr. Lacey's Mustang was flown at least once in the last twenty years! Anybody know if it is still flown and, if so, how often? Love the Invader pic as well but I'm not sure that it technically qualifies for this thread. Is that not a relatively accurate representation of how some Counter Invaders were painted in service?
