What are the rules on tower visitors these days? Chino is locked up like a drum with security gates and barbed wire. Not sure they allow visitors any more. Used to be able to walk up and ring the doorbell. I'd like to take my 4 year old son up there. I won't ask the controller to let him make any transmissions though...

What's going on down there? It was a yellow one and a either light blue or silver...

then saw one heading generally toward Galveston at 5:20 later...Special Delivery?

Airnutz, the T-6 is the one that travels around giving rides with the Barbie III B-25H. They are at Ellington for the weekend.

On my way to the VFM hangar at about 11:30 this morning, I was driving southbound on IH-35W going past Fort Worth Alliance Airport (KAFW). I saw a blue streak zipping by between the hangars. It was an F/A-18 Hornet in tri-color blue camo (aggressor?), blazing down the runway about ten feet off the ground at the speed of heat! At the end of the runway, the pilot racked the Hornet up into an abrupt gut-wrenching 180 degree climbing turn to a downwind, pulling about a zillion G's! Awesome sight! Definitely made my morning. I waved at him like a madman from the cab of my truck, but I doubt he saw me. A few minutes later, he flew by me going southbound parallel to IH-35W at fairly low altitude, then made a hard right and departed to the west. Neato!!!

Look like this? There were a set of "Fighting Omar's" in town to do a fly-over for the Indy Car race on Saturday night at TMS..
