I wonder just how involved PA is in all this... Does he really spend any time with the collection? I mean so far as I know he is not a hands on Howard Hughes type...always hear about him being off in some other corner of the world on his yacht.

PA seems to change FHC management often as well. No telling if it is him or the people that he hires that are responsible for the musical restoration situation. One thing is certain, everyone involved has nondisclosure agreements in effect.

Which workshop can handle this kind of rebuilds as Gosshawk is out of the game now?

is that a new build or a ww2 build aircraft? they were putting in original engines? display only?

Well that's certainly... curious. Has there been any upper echelon turnover at Gosshawk, or perhaps they weren't able to come to agreements on terms? I doubt it would be concerning the quality of work done by the firm- for instance, as much as the paint on the Fw 190 makes my eye twitch, the mechanical and technical quality of that restoration is simply amazing.

I'm sure we'll hear more in due course. The follow-on question is obviously, who's going to take on the projects now?

What saga continues? I do follow the happenings of the FHC but from a very far distance. I have no idea what happens on the inside as I'm sure most others here don't have a clue as well. What's the deal? From what I'm reading here it looks like PA's empire plays "musical chairs" with restoration shops? Care to explain a bit more here Mike. If not no problem, I'm just a bit in the dark on all the drama.

The 'plan' a few years, and several VULCAN folks ago, was that STORMBIRDS on KPAE was supposed to finish and support the airplane during it's 'one and only, see-it flies' turn around the patch @ Moses Lake(KMWH). Dunno what the story is today but the guys @ STORMBIRDS are busy putting together an airworthy A6M ZERO for someone else (R-1830 power?). And VULCAN does go through an awful lot of folks and none of them will say anything about the experience either.

Stupid question ... didnt the original Jumo only last like 6-8 hours before overhaul? how did they fx that? modern materials?

Modern materials was the intention for the rebuild, though much of that work has been done privately.
