hey all, just a heads up that the 262 is leaving the DVHAA museum for Pensacola this Saturday. sad to loose the last of the Asher collection, but such is life.

We have had the pleasure of being the custodian of the ME-262 for many, many years, but sadly it is being moved to the the national Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, Florida.

Before it leaves us, we are offering a rare opportunity for our members (and non-members) to sit in the cockpit of the ME-262 cockpit before it is shipped to its permanent home in Pensacola, Florida.

On Saturday, September 25, members only will be able to sit in the cockpit, have your picture taken and leave with a 4x6 glossy photo of you in the cockpit.

I am sad to hear that it is leaving. I really liked having such a rare aircraft fairly close by.

When it arrives at the NMNA, it wont need any restoration so hopefully it will go right on display.

He's the one who saved them all back when no one wanted them!

Will they be putting the F-84 that was being restored inside with the P-80? I was lucky to see it back in April with Col. Rohr. It is a neat little museum and worth the trip if your passing near Philly. They have a Chance Vought Cutlass sitting out in the display yard. Love the see that one restored.

I hope that the NASM also takes one of the Sea Darts on outside display and gets one indoors.

i posted about this and the comment went missing. the F7U has been moved and seal up prior to long term rest. in it's place is the -84F which john and dan finished in the colors of the 111th FBW 103d FBS PAANG from down Philadelphia International airport (the former is not a grammatical error). it will, in all likelihood replace the 262 indoors. what will go in the former cutlass slot is still being determined, perhaps the SH-2G in HSL-94 colors, the soon to be completed F-8B in VF-931 colors, or another plane... the only other bird at willow grove to carry a 30 mm gun other then the 262 .

i would give a defiant, they can't have ours, but what would be the use, the navy can take what's theirs. we want to move everything indoors and are working to make that happen.
