Photos 1 - 7 top to bottom.

1. Tucson, AZ Scrapyard. 1977-1979. The South East Asia camo would make you think it's a B-26K but the serial # on the side is 41-9244. This s/n could mean nothing.

2. Tucson, AZ airport. 1977-1979. B-26K 64-17676 (A-26A 41-39596) sits in the USAF Museum in Ohio.

Anyone have the numbers on these two Invaders? while two photos show the same Invader, does anyone know the ID of the cropped out Invader. I believe it is 44-34749 A-26B N4823E I saw there in 1988, but hey, I have been known to be wrong.

Larry, these are Great, can I scab these photos or can you email me some HR copies for my files??? :drinkers:

The glass nosed A-26 in Tucson (3 & 4) is 44-35901 N91351 and the hard nosed one next to it is N8021E 44-35780. Both are owned by Gary Abrams who also owns A-26 N4959K "Puss N' Boots". The red and gold A-26 (5) N317W is now with Jerry Yagan in Virginia.

Okay, It appears that 317W is no longer a valid Civil Registration Nummer. Anyone have the Serial and Civil Nummer of this Invader?? :axe:

Definitely a Mustang but no hood scoop so it's not a Boss.

Nope, just a plain '70 model with some aftermarket wheels and aftermarket hood pins. The orange paint color is known as Calypso Coral. The car is missing the stainless trim across the hood above the grille opening.

The Boss 302 did not come standard with a hood scoop. The non-functional scoop was optional, as was the Shaker ram air system. The Mach 1 did include the non-functional scoop as standard equipment, along with the optional Shaker. The Boss 429 included a very large, distinctive scoop as standard equipment, and the Shaker was not offered.

Cheers,

You got me there. I was only thinking of the mammoth scoop on the Boss 429 wasn't thinking of the 302.

Very cool thread. I always love to see pics of aircraft before they were in museums and collections.

Great thread and photos! Thanks for sharing.

I remember seeing a documentary about the excavation of a couple of A-26s in the UK. They were involved in a mid-air collision while forming up, apparenty due to the poor visibility from the cockpit. The show was called TimeTeam.

Here's a link that may interest some of you :D
