Steve Hinton just let me know that Stevo hit 486.7mph at 120" and 3400 rpm. Great stuff.

Should be a fast week if the planes hold up:

Tomorrow: Mainly sunny. Hot. High around 90F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Except for a few afternoon clouds, mainly sunny. Near record high temperatures. High around 90F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the upper 50s.

Saturday: Mainly sunny. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the mid 50s.

Higher temperatures = higher density altitude = lower drag = faster speeds!

Go Stevo!

Thanks for posting this Jim!
I wish I could've gone to Reno, as I've been at work on the Sacramento show this past weekend an dhad to get home. Duty calls!
I did fly over Stead this morning however, and I think we were going about 500 mph! (Delta Airlines!)
Great job Stevo!
Jerry

Watched it happen. He was smoken!

If one did not know any better you would have thought Tiger was doing it.

Was just awesome to watch. Just as awesome was the smile on Dad's face!

Ah, your Spit could probably do that at 80" and 3000rpm! :)

Seriously, congrads to Junior! I'll be there Friday bright and early.

We were talking about this last night...that's faster than the old man ever went on a race course! VERY impressive. And smooth.

In fact, we were trying to figure out how many other pilots have gone that fast at Reno. We came up with Skip Holm and David Price (Dago Red), John Penney and Lyle Shelton (Rare Bear), and Tiger (Strega).

Guys like Dan Martin, Bruce Lockwood, and Mike Brown have come close...but.....

That's some pretty good company.

Exciting!

Tiger ran Strega 486.798 in 06... Papa Hinton ran Tsunami to 470...

The kid is fast!
