Japanese bombed the east coast

Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:05 am

of Australia at Townsville, Queensland in WW2.

This city was the target of several harassment raids by Emilys based in Rabul.

Like the 2nd Oahu raid, they caused no real damage.

Unlike the Oahu raid, they met AAA and fighter opposition... the second time most likely these were Kittyhawks from what information available, tho could of been Boomerangs.

The first raid was pretty much unopposed except for some light AA once the bombs started dropping. Unlike the Oahu raid, they could do the round trip without refueling.

The use of the word Japanese(s) is offensive to at least one wixer who's wife is Japanese and therefore children are of Japanese desent. A little respect is in order.

Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:26 am

Spot on, Jack. May we also remember that the people living in France are the French, not the frogs. The use of the second term is equally offensive to a lot of us.

I would ask that in our posts we refer to everyone using terms of respect and dignity.

Thank you.

Hope your the first yank to sign up for the Japanese rewriting of history books boyo.

Japanese totally even to this day claim the US and Austrlalis started WW2......

No Japanese in ww2 was nice and my relatives know that all too well. If you dont like the past too bloody bad... but it happened!!! Whats next you claim there were nice nazis in the SS?

Jack Cook ideal Zero is one diving down onto a US warship with nice cut fresh flowers on it instrument panel ?

Is that what you mean by nice Japanese eh?

Japanese were brutal and if you cant face that face directly on and understand that some modern day people still have no respect after 64years on still , you have no concept of how deep some feel about the horror they did to people in ww2.

You maybe not aware but there is a famous photo of a Australian airman been beheaed by Japanese.. he was a pilot if i recall.
This photo stand out as a basis as why people will never forigve japan and they are forever known to Aussies as Japanese.

Maybe you yankees call em different on there eh?

Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:34 am

The Japanese of today are NOT the Japanese of yesterday.

Use of the term "Japanese" within a CITED quotation has been used by some and has passed the offensive language list...

HOWEVER, to blanketly say such a racially crude term to apply to any of TODAY's Japanese is just plain wrong.

So sorry, it could not be helped...
Cheers,

There's not one thing you can tell me about WWII.
My cousin was Killed in Action fighting against the Japanese in WWII.

Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:43 am

I disagree here.

Modern Japanese dont bugger know anything about ww2 except that they defended themselves from us.

How do i know this? Ive worked with Japanese and they thru talking about their country past told me what was TAUGHT in their schools!!!! So when i told them to go to the local aussie library and read the real hisotry they were abit offended by me!!! GO FIGURE!!!

If that is not a MAJOR worry god forbid what would rate as a minor issue in history been rewritten.

Modern Japanese have no idea of their past cause their feed propoganda, yes that right PR bulldust.

Im sorry your cousin died. My uncle died and remains missing from WW1 at Villers Bretinorx in France - killed by germans. They are all labelled as nazi to me ww1 and ww2 is no different.

So you admit that you don't know the first darn thing about WWI?

Hello all,

Wixlova needs to learn about conjunctions: can't, don't, you're, I've. "i" should be capitalized: "I".

But not to worry, he should be picking this up next year in third grade.

Kevin,

Ok now lets see here I was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pa. we in Pittsburgh invented pollution and racism just ask Barry Bonds

The one thing that has me very puzzled is the republicans are attacking the constitution of this country along with the tree huggers-over educated office sitters-politically correct jerks.

This was founded by the framers to be a free country with free speech along with free press and the right to assemble. While the internet may not be protected by these laws we should respect them here.

In other words one is free to post what ever one posts.

I’m sure people outside the US have many names for us Americans and use them quite often.

And you do not use politically correct names for the people who are dead set on killing you and destroying your country. I know 2 years in Vietnam.

So to those who object to the use of these what they call offensive names, wake up smell the coffee many do not agree with your views on it and that it is their right to not agree with you and it is also their right under this country’s law to make any statement they wish. Wheather you like or not.

But it is also your right to object to his use of the term Japanese, but if you ask me he could have used many other terms for Japanese there are many others.

I understand where wixlover is coming from yall. Not to pour gas on the fire but............

First let me say that I am certainly no racist, I judge the man not the race. When I visited Pearl Harbor 2 summers ago obviously I encountered a good number of Japanese citizens. Now let me say that I have a good Japanese friend that I would never consider calling a 'Japanese'. At the Arizona memorial it was totally different though.

Im sure a good number of us have been there so I wont go into detail. But I have never seen a more disrespectful group of folks that were there that day than the Japanese present. Not just one individual, the whole lot of them. I had one push me in line at the gift shop, jump in front of me while I was taking pictures and just generally rude altogether.

The two events that still boil my blood today are:
1. There is a Pearl Harbor veteran that tells his story before you get on the boat ride. The Japanese in the theater were talking loudly carrying on and laughing throughout his story. He even stopped once and asked them to be quiet.

2. On the Arizona memorial, they showed absolutely no respect for the 1,177 Sailors that died there. Just giggling talking acting like they owned the place.

As someone who served and knows the price these men paid just doing their jobs, the actions of the Japanese folks that day deeply upset me.

I later spoke with a park ranger about it and he said that (not all) they tend to be disrespectful there.

Sorry yall, but this is how I feel, it would be like me going over to Hiroshima laughing my behind off and glorifying it. I would never think of doing such a thing.

I hope you guys halfway see my point of view and dont bite my head off.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Did we learn nothing from Jurassic Park?

Wrong Einstein only 1 person here has that freedom-the owner Scott
It maybe a right to insult a entire race of people. But, it shows a certain lack of maturity,
sound judgement and basic respect for your fellow man :?
and I'd hazard a guess that you don't do that in public

Unfortunately, that is typical of Japanese tourists. Their cultural norms don't translate well in certain situations. Last fall, we were in Sweden watching the changing of the guard at the castle in Stockholm. There were barricades to keep the tourists distributed around the perimeter of the parade ground. Inevitably, after you took your place up against the rail (i.e. a front row view), a group of Japanese would push in front of you and root you out of the space you'd showed up early to get.

The piece de resistance was when one Japanese lady crossed the barrier and walked 20' out onto the parade ground to make a picture. That was a real WTF moment. After a few seconds, the guards "encouraged" her to return to an appropriate vista.

Again, the bottom line is that there are different cultural norms. The Brits are polite and queue up neatly for everything (unless they are drunk, soccer hooligans, or both), and the Japanese violate your personal space and make lots of noise at inappropriate times.
