In looking at the aerial photos in Microsoft Virtual Earth of the El Paso Airport, there is a hangar on the south side of the large ramp that has out in front of it what appears to be several (4-5) fuselages of F-102 or F-106 aircraft. When you go to the Bird's-eye views of this same hangar, obviously taken some time later, there are two almost complete airframes of F-106's along with two fuselages, and two tail assemblies alongside the hangar. Can't see wings, but they may be inside.

Anyone know what the story of these aircraft is? Are they going to museums?

The original intent was to return at least one to flying condition. The F-106B is inside sitting in a jig. It's been that way for 4-5 years. Apparently the owner has lost interest. He's the same guy with the F-100.

I belong to a museum in NO. CALIF> and we have one restored on display. We even have it open on certain weekends or during our annuak airshow and allow the public to sit in our planes.I would love to see them fly, but as they are on permenent loan to us we don't have that option. Fantastic job with your 106 John! Very nice :P Would be an huge effort to get one of those lovely ladies back in the air...

Nothing will get your attention much quicker than a 106 being scrambled for a intercept...especially at night. Had the pleasure of witnessing that a couple of times while stationed at Minot AFB :P :P

Pretty sure that's David Tokoph's operation. He does indeed have a Hun, it's done up in Thunderbirds markings, and is for sale. I also heard he had an F-5. He owns a South African airline, or something like that. Can't be too bad of a cat, the FAA got his #$^^ in a vice for making a high speed pass down a runway in his Hun a few years back.

Ive heard the Hun and the F-106 projects are for sale cause he got a cheaper toy in the F-5.

Is Mr Collings aware of these birds? That Hun would sure be awesome on the show circuit in a Heritage Flight. And it's 2 seats to boot!

They used to just take out the guns and bombsight and even leave gas in them so they were ready to go!
