This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Hi all,
Well, it's pretty much confirmed, the WIX HQ is making an all-services inspection of the West Coast Squadron of WIX. Scott Rose and myself will both be attending the Chino show for the first time ever and are looking forward to meeting everyone who shows up to the little shindig!
I'm interested in hearing who's planning on being there and if anyone has any recommendations as to where us pilgrims from the East Coast can lay our heads at night...
Of course plans should be made for an afterhours get together at a watering hole or someone's patio... suggestions anyone?
(I'll move this topic to the Gatherings section after about a week... I just wanted everyone to see initially.)
Thanks!
Ryan

Ryan, I'll be there, how long will you guys be out? ... I've got some plans for all. You may want to stay in LA, I have several connections there. Could be a fun time for you guys. Hit me with a PM if you want.

I'll be there also with six others. I'll let the guys that live in the LA area, make the recommendations as to where to stay.

The Double Tree at the Ontario Airport is pretty nice--rest, bar etc; Ayres Suits is also there. Marriot Suites as well. About 10 mins North of Chino airport.

That is only a 29 hour drive (1600 miles). That almost seem do-able.

Maybe next year!

I'll be working my usual spot at the museum's giftshop booth. If you're going to buy your airshow shirt, come by Saturday morning as we tend to start selling out of various sizes by Saturday afternoon. Last year, we were completely sold out by mid-day Sunday!
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Seeing the warbirds fly at the Chino show years ago was what got me started in Spitfires. A fun thing to do is see if anyone is selling rides like a Tiger Mouth or Stearman, etc. and get a low level open cockpit ride out to the beach, and/or over the Queen Mary.
I flew there about 2002 and flew formation with Steve Hinton in their P-38 for a few passes. Any photographers on WIX have a shot of this? Thanks

I can't go this year, but I've stayed at the Motel 6 on Central for the last few years. Convenient and not expensive. I checked and it looks like they still have space.

What! I am disappointed as well! You had better be making plans to join us at Geneseo Mudge!

Sorry...No Geneseo either.
We get back from our 8 days in Bayeux, France (Normandy beaches) on July 9th and will be totally broke.
Mrs. Mudge and I will be at Thunder and I'll be at the Midland Airsho.

I am thinking about going for the very first time, just looking for a place to stay.

Were staying at this place, it's about $65 a night, if you just need a place to sleep. Not to far from the Museum.
