For those involved more directly with warbirds. Have you you set any records?? Local or otherwise????
WE HAD 87 NOISE COMPLAINTS IN A 4 HOUR PERIOD WHILE WAYNE WAS FLYING WITH TED STEWART GETTING READY FOR HIS TYPE RATING CHECKRIDE. A SALEM AIRPORT RECORD THAT WILL PROBABLY STAND FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. 8)

I don't know how many reports we generated..but I was helping on a late evening engine run on an F-86 at Arlington Muni and the policeman came by and asked us to cut it out....My wife said she could hear the the airplane from the house...about 4 miles away

I may have a picture from that day...I'll have to look....

I ate the most slices of pizza at the Friday POF pre-airshow volunteer's dinner once. I don't think the record was certified by the FAI (Foundation for Alimentary Indulgence) though and I have yet to do my back up run...

I used to have a loft in Tribeca – downown manhattan – and late at night I would often hear a sound that could only be that of a lrage jet engine running up. I finally surmised that I must be hearing sounds from Newark, maintenance runups I presumed, which was certainly farther away than 4 miles. (Or else I was just crazy.)

The local Kmart once complained about the noise at the airport back in the mid 90's when the C-123 was getting run up, when we got the complaint, we went and ran up the C-123 along with the B-17 and the B-25 Hoosier Honey.

I'm sure it's a rounding error for some, but I set a new personal record this year- I used 7622 gals of gas this year for warbird flying. A new record for me. I hope to use 10,000 or more next year. Probably over 300 gallons of oil, but I didn't keep as accurate count on the oil.

My carbon footprint is huge. Hopefully bigger next year as well.

Rock ON!!! :supz:

All my records have to do with "wildlife control" at the airport, but we've got too many animal lovers for me to go into specifics :)

This year was a personal best for me as well. I used over 12,000 gallons of Jet-A and no detectable engine oil usage (that's a good thing). Like Eric, I'm hoping to do better in '08. Now that my buds on the field aquired a T-33 and a T-37, that should give added incentive to rid the world of excess fossil fuel.

Paul, don't you also qualify for the most "Hooters Runs" involving a warbird?

I think so, but hard to say for sure since this isn't something officially tracked. It only happens once a year at Oshkosh when we make the 12 mile flight to Appleton to pick up Hooters wings. Hope to make it a three or four ship in '08.

Now THAT will be a lot of wings!!!!

Happy Holidays! :D

I smell a good Warbird Digest article we could do just for the trip 8) That would be serious fun.
