This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

What's the most exciting warbird fly-by you have seen? ... a single type warbird, not a formation flight or aerobatics, just a single type that gets you "fired-up" more than any other type of warbird. I've been to Chino many times and I have to say that the P-38 always is the most exciting to watch fly-by. I love the sound and just the way it looks as it passes by. the second would be at Midland and watching the CAF's SB2C and P-39, and a few years ago, the B-29 fly-by.

David Price's Me-109E. The one opportunity I got to see Black 6 fly at Duxford was missed because it was too windy.

SR-71 with burners lit, does that count? How about a Lancaster.

Both are correct sir .... I heard an SR-71 break the speed record for flying from the west coast to the east coast, or was it the other way around? .... a few years back, never saw it, just heard the "BOOM"

OK so if you're talking the driver and not really just the plane.
Bob Love and his P-51D "Bernie's Bo"

Nope, .... "The Plane", "The Plane" ...

If we include jets, it would have to be the SR-71. For prop-driven, it would have to be the CAF's P-82, back when it was flying.

Anyone have a photo of the CAF's P-82 flying?

an SR-71 low pass at Reno and departing with full afterburner...the rings of fire coming off the exhaust is a sight I'll never forget.
Or any P-51 flying anywhere, anytime...

For sheer 'wow' factor, the SR-71, F-22 or any of the modified 'Airshow special' Sukhois and MiGs flown by Anatoly Kvotchur.
Historics, the first flight of Duxford's (first) Blenheim restoration, BBMF's Lancaster, PoF's P-26 Peashooter, 'Glacier Girl' and Shuttleworth's Hind.
Most anticipated, MAAM's P-61 Black Widow.
I know Hellcat, you meant just the one.................

Nope Mike, all are great, and yes, the P-61 will be ... well .... WOW!!!! ... I think any of the new 190's or even a P-40C or P-40B, and I would also like to see an A-20 havoc fly.
