I remember Jack Spanich had a Skyraider with the big bee on the tail, similar paint scheme. He banged it up a couple of times, two instances that I know of was he landed short of the runway at his home airport and another instance at Nashville he forgot to lock the tailwheel or set the parking brake and the tail swung around when parked and hit the roofline of Hangar 2 at BNA. He also must not have had it chocked. Who owns that airplane now?
Thanks

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

He owned maybe five Skyraiders that he imported from France or wherever. He flew one of them for a couple of years, in gray U.S. Navy markings and had some accidents. After determining it to be an "unlucky airplane" he picked another from his hangarful and painted it in the green and tan S.E. Asia markings. the second one is the one he and his wife got killed in scud running back from an airshow. IIRC, he was only a private pilot, not an instrument rated pilot..

The aircraft that flipped over with Harry Doan is now owned and flown by Rick Sharpe. Rick has owned it for several years and flies it regularly.

Rick Has started his own small museum here in Houston.

I believe that the Skyraider that Harry Doan was killed in - is the same a/c that Jack Spanich landed short and had the unlocked tailwheel episode with because I can remember pictures from earlier Tico's that showed George Baker flying it with no gear doors and a unpainted replacement left outer wing panel...

My god it was bad enough when ebay had an RAF airmans flak damamged tunic remains to be advertised for sale a couple of years ago! I reported this photo to ebay as it breaks one of the rules on selling. I suggest those that are offended by the photo please report it also.

Very poor taste.

BTW, that un-painted left wing was from the spares we had at the New England Air Museum. Harry bought it to get the AD flying again.
