Sure...P-51, P-51, P-51, P-51...

Nice pics. 8)

The ex-Bill Ross P-38 went to Lone Star for many years and is now in Florida with Tom Blair and nearing flight status once again if I'm not mistaken.

"Sure...P-51, P-51, P-51, P-51... "

I should've expected this.

I'll try!
1st Flight:
Lead John Baugh ("Miss Coronado"), Right, Shipley ( Big Beautiful Doll") & Bromberger ("Vergeltungswaffe"), Left, Urschler ("Gunfighter")

2nd Flight:
Lead Bradley ("Old Boy"), Right, McCann (C-Fuzz), McManus (Petie 3rd"), Left, O'Grady ("What's Up Doc?")

3rd Flight:
Lead Davidson ("Double Trouble Too"), Right, Bowlin ("Glamouros Glenn III"), Tope ("Death Rattler"), Left, Ethell (" Baby Duck" Joe Scogna's plane)

I'm sure I screwed up a couple!

That must have been the mid 80's, before "aeroshell" square. They used to park Concorde down by the warbirds, and people had to eat their ice-cream off of the flightline. The John Deere gator hadn't been invented yet. Those were the days.

Mon Dec 10, 2007 3:58 pm

those most certainly were the days. ahh...memories

Mon Dec 10, 2007 3:59 pm

that sounds pretty good to me on the list of mustangs. nice job!

Mon Dec 10, 2007 4:41 pm

I think that was 1988, since I was there.
The scary part is after all these years I actually have all that useless info running around inside my head!

BTW, that formation was better and tighter than any of the mass P-51 flights at GML this year. They cetainly were the days for some of us!

I think the airplane identified as Shipley's is Jimmy Hunt's Contrary Mary. Big Beautiful Doll didn't fly until 1993 and this was well before that...

Mon Dec 10, 2007 6:57 pm

The shot of the Mustangs is from 1988

Mon Dec 10, 2007 7:20 pm

"Bromberg" I believe is the late Hess Bomberger.

Mon Dec 10, 2007 9:05 pm

Tim and Chad,
Both correct. I just couldn't remember if Shipley's was flying then.
Also, I think it was Dennis BRADLEY, not Brady flying "Old Boy".

Wow... I'm surprised you haven't been called a blasphemer by one of our British friends for that line.... :)

It's "...that is Concorde on the warbird ramp." or" ...that is a Concorde on the warbird ramp."

Concorde is a name, not a thing, thus there is no "the" placed in front when talking about it. Any Brit will be very quick to remind you of that. :)

Great pics though, even though you have proven to be a real "Colonial". Hope to see more. :)
