I was told just a few minutes ago, that the Covey Trails based Sptifire, so nicely restored by Raybourne Thompson, has been sold.

According to my source, Mr. Thompson's last flight on his Spitfire will be tomorrow..... Here's hoping for a few low passes over the Brookshire International Air and Space Port!

I was told that the airplane was advertised for sale, and sold in just a couple of hours.

Although I was given the reported sale price, I will not mention it here, since I believe it is not my place to do so.

Saludos,

Tulio

Thanks for the update, Tulio. Everyone figured that one would sell pretty quick.

Tim,

I would like to go, since Covey Trails is relatively close to where I live.

Thing is, I have no idea about the time when Mr. Thompson will fly his airplane.

I will check again this thread early tomorrow morning, and if there is an update, I will definitely go.

Hope to see you there.

Saludos,

Tulio

At the advertised price, I am surprised it did not sell more quickly.

JIm,

Thanks for the GREAT NEWS for those of us in the Mid Atlantic. I can't wait to see her soon!

With your squadron to my northwest and Duffy's to the southeast, I feel well protected. :P

I don't think I have met Tom Duffy, but I am glad to see the plane staying in the U S. I'd sure liek to get a RAF flight at Osh some day.

That's a potential 5 on the field at Geneseo someday. Bill, would you make that trip again?

Wow! Between VWoC, Tom Duffy, and Fighter Factory, the East Coast is becoming quite the hotbed of warbird activity!

The only thing that limits all the Duffy planes coming to Geneseo is the availability of pilots. I have only seen Tom or Terry Rush fly any of the planes at this point.

Wow, I hope to see that in the Geneseo Line up this coming year. There are some very nice collections growing on the East Coast of North America!

Edit:
I'm sorry I phrased that incorrectly, I meant to say. "will it be at Geneseo This coming year?"
