Anyone have an update on Steve? Seems like the news just totally forgot that he was missing?

Just a question mark '?' at the end of the post title would show this was a question, rather than as it is at the moment, implying there's been a report. (Rather than no news... :( )

The original search for Amelia Earhart, like many others of the period were larger in terms of ships and thus 'large units' and manpower deployed. In pure cost terms, the current search would have spent more, but factoring inflation? Dunno. The sad similarity is both have been failures.

No comment on Mr Fossett's choices, but it is a tip to us all in general - make sure someone knows where you are. More people disappear every day than we realise.

as of a few days ago the media announced rescuers have turned to more ground bound search techniques, from horseback to all terrain vehicles, to hikers on foot.

He probably flew over area-51 or some similar secret compound and was blown out of the sky with a Stinger s.a.m.When they realized who it was that they had just augered into the desert ,they said"whoops!" and dug a big hole and bulldozed the wreckage into it,tip toed away and pretended to know nothing. "What hole?"
it is claimed that he had more than one emergency transponder with him and yet not a peep.That's kinda weird.

Any lake or pond in the area ? If he crashed into one, transponders are notoriously inefficient at transmitting in water...

Would not take much of a water hole to hide a small plane like the Citabria !

If steve was flying and suddenly dropped dead... of course no one going to heard from him... if you have a heart attack and die your gone.

I must admit after 3-4 weeks i am one to say he is dead and MIA.. he will be somewhere out there in the Nevada wastelands i think... where is open to debate.

I just hope they find the wreckage and his remains before they get very badly errodded.
