2007 Binghamton NY pics

Sat Jun 30, 2007 5:27 pm

Hi all,

I just got back spending a fun full day at Binghamton NY for an airshow. I met up with Tim, and another WIX'er Brian. We had a lot of fun and even saw Jim Beasley although I did not get to talk with him. He flew the USAF heritage flight in P-51D "Bald Eagle". Also I met up with a familiar face...Geneseo's C-47, C-45, and Navion were there on static display.

Enjoy the pic!

-Nathan

First time I saw this P-40. But you can guess I was excited about it! :D

Nice pics!

Thanks guys! :D

This was my first show I went to this year. Geneseo will be next.

Boy, my adrenaline sure gets pumping when those warbirds started taxiing out. Also pretty cool to have the prop wash from a P-40 blowing your way. :o It was a special day to see even a few warbirds like that take to the sky.

Tally ho,
Nate

Great pics pal. That P-40 is one of my favorites as well.

Looks like Nathan beat me to getting some shots posted.

Here are a few shots from the Airshow. I had a good chance to play with my new Canon 100-400mm lens. I like it a lot, I think as the day went on I got better with it. I also found that it was much heavier at the end of the day than it was when I got to the show.

It was a good show. It might no be in my top 10 but it was worth the 2.5 hour drive and the $12 to get in. Not often you get to see about 10 FA-18 at one show.

EDIT: Oops. I was trying to add some new shots in and edit some other out and looks like things went bad. I'll repost some of them and a few more.

And the scarest thing I saw all day was this (or these as there were a few there and not just one)

Now 10 years ago when I got out of the Navy the FA-18A were tired and I was always impressed they were not falling out of the sky (at least as often as my squadron’s FA-18C lot 12 seemed to). But the “A+” gave me a good laugh to say the least, and thankful I did not have to fly it.

I decided to go last minute to the Friday night show. I had never been to the show and was pretty surprised by the amount of people attending. I wanted to go Friday instead of Saturday since I've seen most of the planes already and figured if I go in the evening I can see something different. None of my night pictures are worth anything but I got some great dusk shots. Here are probably my best shots from the show:

Those dusk shots are great, Ken!

Thanks, looks like I'll have to clean up some of the vignetting on the last shot. I can't take all the credit though, I don't think it's possible to take a bad picture of a polished Mustang at sunset.

Great pictures fella's! :D

I an't believe how many WIX'ers went to this little show!
Here are a few more I took.

This P-40 is REALLY nice! Father and son flew together. The father flew the P-40 while his son flew the P-51 and they both took off together. I thought that was kinda neat.

Also a favorite of mine, the big stick of the USAF, the C-5. :supz:

Who is the little hotty hiding behind the warhawk, Nathan? Enquiring minds want to know :P

Unfortunately a girl I did not know. A girl that likes Warhawks is a plus in my book! :P
