Political correctness enthusiasts?

Sat Jun 30, 2007 1:53 am

Why does it seem so hard for people to see plane art aka nose art as a item not as a offensive item?

These same people i assume have had sex too? or do they avoid ANY sexual formations with women species too?

PC artwork is a reminder of the past when the world wasnt so up it tushy...

I for one like artwork ANY on planes, the more the original and raunchy the better.

I know just to paint this artwork takes skill and any look at Korean war art on b29 there were hundreds of well painted NAKED women until a base commanders wife had a hissy fit...

They had to paint over the revealling items... PC started by a woman see...

So anyone who opposes warbird artwork should have their account banned, because they arent a true warbird lover.

Why in the world do people always relate this to PC? This is a Chirstian thing. The whole modesty issue goes way back and way beyond warbird nose art. But it's always been the same folks wailing about it: those who think nudity is immoral. Same with gambling, drinking and dancing. It's only recently really been attached to the PC thing due to womens lib. But if you think there weren't issues with it even back then, you're wrong.

I'm not sure who said it first, but you can always tell a painting of a naked lady is art because it has a pillar in it. :D
Those without the pillar are just...pool hall furnishing :)

Well yes..it is a Chistian morality and a Womens Lib thang. Two objections of the
same content from 2 different spectrums of society. We'll live with that and suffer
on with it as we have in the past.

But, if the subject of Sabredriver's thread is related to comments of "Reggie von Agitate", then don't
get your skivvies wrapped around the axle. He can't use Nigger in
an earlier post and then come back on a later post with a PC complaint about noseart.
He can use the former in a historic sense if we're discussing "Huck Finn" or "Big Nig" or somesuch,
but I suggest his wife seek PC warbird noseart with her redneck husband elsewhere
other than WIX.

TimAPNY...might be time for you to stick that steel-toe where the sun don't shine.
I don't think you'll find any objections to Reggie being your "cherry"! :D

he he! I guess I can't argue--I just think libbers get more attention than they deserve. I didn't think about ole' Reggie and his wacky postings in relation to the thread...I was just sort of throwing my own two bits in...

I agree, these morons should be ignored and locked in the basement
Nose art is part of the scene and era these machines we love come from, deal with it or get f*****! same to those who object to swastika's on german 33-45 era aircraft, deal with it

I think there is plenty of nose art that can be acceptable to most people including "pinup" noseart, there are some who object simply on a sexist basis but I think if it is based on an historical example there is a place for it as long it is not trying to be overly "graphic".

The Varga pinups were always tasteful rather than graphic.

I have always taken my kids to airshows, as many other parents do, and I wouldnt expect them to be exposed to unacceptable images, I am sure the General Public would have the same attitude.

In regard to the swastika I think some consideration does have to be given to those still alive who suffered under the Nazi's attrocities and who see that symbol being a symbol of evil, I personally feel this is an attitude that is strongest in Europe, I am not sure about the attitude in the US but certainly in Australia I dont think its ever been an issue for the me-262, 163 or 109 at the Australian War Memorial?

"Political Correctness" is just a label to explain objections or attitudes that usually has some bonefide basis for a concern or objection. Tolerance, consideration and moderation on both sides can usually find a fair compromise.

"This is a Christian thing."

Not really. The Old Testament, in Genesis, Adam and Eve were created nude. Only after the original sin did their own nudity offend them. It never offended God.

So, Jews, Christians, and Muslims all have roots in the Old Testament.

What is "morale" changes over time. Sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse.

PC in other places

Sat Jun 30, 2007 11:23 am

PC in other places involves female circumcision, public stoning, beheading, and dragging enemies through the streets of your town to denigrate them. So with those extremes in mind, I'm for the free thinkers of the world. But I'm aware of the trouble with being truly free, as Jack Nicholson stated in "Easy Rider"- 'They're afraid of you because you're free.' Don't forget, that was right before the free thinking townspeople stomped him to death. But he was a lawyer, so that's okay, right?

Hey, now...I got paint from an overly broad brush all over my back!

There's lotsa non-Christian folk running around the world that aren't in a hurry for their kids to see nekkid ladeez.

As a Christian, nose art doesn't bother me in context. Buncha 19/20-year-olds possibly fixing to get blown outta the sky? Paint away, boys.

Like I say, it's a context thing. When the Collings Foundation's Liberator was still painted as 'Dragon And His Tail', I flew on her. I just wouldn't have taken my kids to see her at the age they were then. Since they changed it, I don't have to worry ablut that any more.

You can napalm men, women and children, but you can't write f**k on an airplane.

Makes no sense to me at all.
