Hi Everyone,
The Weather Channel had a segment on flooding in Burnet/Marble Falls. The CAF Highland Lakes Squadron is located in Burnet and hopefully all their a/c are ok. I believe they have an L-5, PT-19, C-47 (Bluebonnet Belle) and AT-6. I may miss it by a plane or two.
Planning on making the Cavanaugh Open House this weekend and I hope they can pull it off. That area is getting plenty of rain!

They aren't the only ones....We're under an advised evacuation where I live, but it looks like that if there is no more rain tonight or tomorrow, we won't see the water get too much deeper around here. We've got the go-bags ready for the wife and the two boys, and the van just about ready for all the pets. As I'm on standby with our fire department, my gear bag is on the engine as our crew will be the last out of the subdivision. With the fact that our home has never flooded since it was built in 1972, and we have had two record breaking floods here since then, we're keeping a watchful eye on things and moving the critical stuff to the second floor. To get water there, we would have to have the river go at least 15-20 feet above flood stage.
The biggest worry are the 21, hundred+ year old pecan trees in the yard getting blown into the house due to high winds coupled with saturated ground.

Looks like I'm going to have to skip some flying this weekend to go take care of some minor damage at the ranch... Pretty amazing. Some years you can't get enough rain, but this year we've had a ton. So much for global warming, this's been a nice year temperature wise here.

We had a 15 foot wall of water come down the Frio river a couple of days ago. I was watching the flood gauge on the weather services' website and it went from 4 foot (normal) to 18.47 feet in a matter of minutes. I saw some photos taken of the rise and it was impressive to say the least.
More to come today also.

When the weather service runs out of words to describe the rain event, you got trouble coming................
DANGEROUSLY WET PATTERN WILL CONTINUE ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS THROUGH AT LEAST THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK...
DISCUSSION...
ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT THINGS ABOUT THIS FORECAST PACKAGE WAS TRYING TO COME UP WITH A NEW WAY TO EMPHASIZE JUST HOW WET...AND DANGEROUS...THE WEATHER PATTERN CONTINUES TO BE. TROPICAL AIRMASS WILL CONTINUE TO SIT OVER SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS THROUGH THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

Marble falls had 19.5" of rain in 9 hours yesterday...
The DFW area may break all June records this time around...I got over 6 inches in the last 2 days (my rain gauge overflowed...)
Nice weather...for a duck.

Were still in a Drought

only and I mean ONLY got 7 and a half inches the night before last here in Copperas Cove ! rain fall for the year in the Fort Hood area has hit a record high of over 54 inches

I kid you not we have had house's that have been flooded on tops of Hill were the water was running off so fast !

Its a little soggy up here in Dallas...

I was doing my scuba check out dives in Terrell TX (Spelling?) just south of the metroplex and along Hwy 80 I'd say about 50% of the access roads were washed out from the overflow of that branch of the Trinity...

Not too much fun. However, the planes are nice and dry inside the hangar.

King, where can you find those pictures of the Frio? I looked and didn't find much. I've got some friends out there right now and I hope they are staying safe!
BTW, I was amazed at that massive influx also. I was even more amazed at how fast it went back down. 4 ft. to 18.47 in 1:15 and then back down to 5.8 in 4 hours. How tall was that wall by the time it got to Uvalde?

Georgetown has had some good rain, but nowhere near as much as Marble Falls. Drove around yesterday to see the runoff from the South San Gabriel River and was amazed by what I saw. Normally not much more than a creek, it was WAAAAY up over its banks (10+ feet; I am trying to confirm), and it was a swiftly moving beast. It flooded a good part of San Gabriel park just north of downtown Georgetown. Several locals had packed the bridges to watch the water come through as most had never seen it that high.
Several roads in the local area are closed, with more rain on the way.
Below are my first attempt at posting pictures.
Taken from Highway 26 looking SW; normally small creek sized, a child could easily jump across it. Not today!
Taken at the popular Blue Hole park, a scenic swimming hole bordered by high clifs.
View from the Austin Avenue bridge, again picture a small creek sized river.
The San Gabriel Park, a large sized park with all kinds of room for families.

You should see the Trinity River from the air. We departed Love Field today and I was taken by amount of water

I only have an inch of water in my front yard

First there are Bone Yards - now I am an admitted Bone Head. I just figured out how to post the pictures, not the links.
