P-51D "Quick Silver"

Sat Jun 23, 2007 11:36 am

I note on the GML 2007 site a that a P-51D named "Quick Silver" is booked. It is owned by Rancho Linida Vista LLC. This 51 is registered N51HY and was earlier listed with an owner named Barbara Hunter of Lewisville, WV. Does anyone here know anything at all about the aircraft as it is today?

I also saw EVG's 51 with some odd name listed.
Not happening has it needs tons of work and a
qualified mech to do it for them.

Here it is arriving at Oshkosh today.

I saw Quick Silver today. Talked to them, Been in rebuild for 14 years. It is still based in LEWISBURG, WV (There is no Lewisville WV; I'm from WV). I need to go over and visit them now. Seemed like nice enough guys.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the exhaust stripe to be one of the best looking features of a Mustang?

Very nice looking 'stang but the D-day stripes with post war insignia are a bit strange together.

I was going to say the same thing. Oh well at least she's in the air.

That's what you call artistic license...
Great to see that it flies. Look forward to see it in Ohio!

I'm with you on that! It looks really great on the highly polished ones, like this one:

This is the beloved money strip as it takes a couple hundred gallons to develop to its fullest rainbow!

Let's see that one more time! That's what I'm talking about... 8)

Great photo!

Thanks bdk! :) I was wandering the ramp at Camarillo a few years back before the show and saw that beautiful exhaust rainbow. I stopped and thought "PHOTO OP"! I'm glad I took the shot, even though the lighting was awful with the morning marine layer.

It also had a most unusual sign on it today.
