Bear in mind that not everything has a parts number prefix. Some of the aircraft manufacturers had other numbering systems for their aircraft parts components, which usually grew out of their contracting/engineering practices. Eastern Aircraft (General Motors Aviation Division which built the Wildcat and TBM Avenger)had EA as prefixes on some of their parts, but used certain number ranges for the parts for different aircraft, but also went outside of the number ranges for modifications. Chance Vought/Sikorsky used VS as a prefix on their aircraft, and used certain parts number ranges on them.
I am not an expert, just have some experience in this area (since it is my work nowadays) and am always looking for new documentation to build my parts numbers knowledge. If you have any well documented WWII aircraft parts with parts numbers on them, I am very interested in seeing what you have and adding them to my store of information. I am also very interested in collecting blank and filled out WWII yellow, green, and red tags for parts.
