California for Christmas!

Fri Sep 17, 2004 10:36 am

Hi all,
I'll be spending some time over Christmas in California; Santa Barbara way. I'll (obviously) be trying to get to Chino, but what's the latest on the California warbird and vintage scene? What's in good distance of SB (and I guess I'll be able to get from LAX if I can to other stuff...)
Cheers!

At Chino Airport is Yanks Air Museum. That is well worth the stop. In Palmsprings is the Pond "east" collection. that is a few hours but very nice set up. The CAF is in Camerillo (sp?). They have a P-38, F6F-5, A6M2 and some others.
March Aior Museum (all static collection)

And if you are up for a longer trip Castle Air Museum is great. B-36H, B-45A B-24M, B-17G, B-18, B-23...
