SB2C Propellor

Does anybody know what the propellor on the CAF's SB2C-5 is from? The SB2C was normally equiped with a Curtiss Electric prop, the CAF Helldiver flies with a Hamilton Standard. It looks like a F4U-4 prop to me, but I'm certainly no expert.

This is my guess, based on limited knowledge with some further research:

Looks like a 50 spline R-2800 nosecase, so I would guess a 24E50. The 60 spline late-war "C-Series" engine (and post-war civil variants) has a nosecase less domed with an additional cylindrical section and was used in the 4-bladed Corsairs (to the best of my knowledge).

So, it could be off of a lot of planes, but I suspect not a Cosair- maybe a P-47D or G (the "N" had a C-Series engine as well)?

The beast was here last weekend I ask the same question and their reply was a modified Corsair prop.The lower engine cowling and bomb bay doors are also somewhat non standard due too the corn field landing several years ago :cry:

Its one big a/c and was a real treat to see it fly!! The crew was great and let me climb all over it,I was amazed at the difference between the A-25 and the SB2C-5 :shock:

after the show on sunday it was off to my hanger at Anoka for the guys to see their first A-25 !! :lol:

I think they enjoyed the visit,and were abit suprized to see the project!The next morning I made the trip out to Flying Cloud to watch the departure,all I can say is wow!!The high speed pass was almost too much!! :

Could just be a matter of semantics. The E-Series blades should fit in any E-Series hub, so you may have Corsair blades in a 50-spline hub.

Thanks for the info guys. When I asked the pilot he said he wasn't sure where the prop came from.

Mike, I had a great time meeting you and the other WIXers this weekend. Thanks for pumping the wings down, I got some good shots of the beast with them folded and with them spread.
