WOW!!GREAT PHOTOS NOW YOU SEE WHY THE U.S.A.F. LEFT IT THERE.WHAT A SHAME I HOPE THAT THE PEOPLE AT THE N H C SEE WHAT CAN HAPPEN EVEN IN THE MOST REMOTE AREAS OF THE WORLD TO A UNPRESERVED A/C. EVEN THE B-24 RECOVERED BY HILL AFB HAD BEEN SEVERLY VANDALISED IN THE REMOTE AREA OF ALASKA.DO THEY REALLY THINK THEY WILL BE THERE IN 150 YEARS? NOT A CHANCE,VANDALS,SCRAP MEN,AND NATURE WILL TAKE CARE OF WHATS LEFT.THANKS MIKE

Neat post, Mark. I think it just affected my whole day. Maybe my whole life, who knows? I'm only half looking at the (beloved Lady Be Good) relic, but mostly can't help thinking of the crew - and all the others like 'em. Just look at that environment ... my god, what a place ... imagine finding yourself facing THAT after the machine quit...

In the middle of all this beaten, weathered and sand blasted wreckage, this tire looks almost new - except for the missing piece.

Remember reading a while back that parts and pieces taken off the Lady would bring you bad tidings

The USAFM in Dayton has a few pieces of the "Lady Be Good" on display. I didn't get any close ups of the items in the wall display. I'll have to do that during my next visit.

Here are my pics from a few years ago.
