Warbird Information Exchange

A serious question here. I have been watching a British show on public television called "Foyles War" . The story line follows a London detective in the early years of WWII with his son flying Spitfires with the RAF. Sundays episode featured some nice footage of six Spitfires on the ground and in the air. I'm just curious who's aircraft these might be.

There is some recent footage, of one or two spits, but I think that the bulk of the flying stuff came from Piece of Cake out-takes. Not sure which Spits were used in the current filming though. I think that the Aces High C-47 was used in one episode though.

I seem to remember that HAC's Spitfire V - BM597 was used.

The earthbound spits were cardboard cutouts.

It is just amaizing what a little cardboard and poster paint can accomplish! Thanks to everyone for the info!
