I have been 'lurking' this forum for quite some time now and I guess this is a good time to make myself known. I am a dutch native, but right now I am in the Pittsburgh area.
I am planning to make the trip to Geneseo in a few weeks, and I was just wondering if any of you guys may have some 'tips & tricks' regarding the event. What is a good time to arrive traffic-wise, what's the best spot on the flightline to catch the action etc.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Richard.

I can't tell you about a good time to arrive, as I usually don't get there until about 10 to 11 AM.

As for the flightline, Geneseo has an excellant flightline. You won't have too much trouble stepping up to the flightline to get a photo.

I would have to say though, that I find Geneseo the best shot for taxy shots as they alternate in parallel with the flightline a parking line, taxy way, parking line... etc. It works very well.

Regards,

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Sometimes the signs for the show are really hard to see / find. Crowds in the past seem light, but I also get there generally about 7-8 am. Its worth the trip. Its not the biggest warbird event but I think one (if not) the Best.

Thanks for the info guys,
Looking forward to the show! Normally I would be at Duxford for Flying Legends this weekend, but this should be a perfect alternative.

Regards, Richard.

I'll be wearing a WIX T-shirt and carrying a black camera bag.

I'll keep an eye out then :) If you see a 6ft 4 guy sporting a dutch accent and a red cap: that'll be me!

Richard.

Any chance you were at Air Heritage @ Beaver falls lately? I'd love an update on the A-20 they are restoring.

Tim,

I think you just set my agenda for a day next weekend, if work permits!
I'll keep you posted.

Airic, Love your photos you brought! I can't wait to see some from the show. I must have missed Richard at the show. It was a great show and haveing poeple you "know" arounf the field made it a lot more fun. The steak dinner was a great time! That I plan to hit every year. What a great show. I was really sad to see Potter Spit a little banged up  What a beautiful A/C. I hope she's back in the air soon and all is well.

Right now no special beer orders, But for next year if I'm have a couple months lead time I can make up a few special batchs for the show!

It was great meeting you guys, I really enjoyed myself. I think the atmosphere at Geneseo is unique in that it combines a fly-in 'feel' with a great airshow. It's kind of 'laid-back' , which I found refreshing.

Eric, just had a look at your pictures, great stuff!

Richard.
