During the visit to Soesterberg last week with Mike Henninger and Harm-Jan Strating we also spotted an F-84 controls test set-up that came from a technical school (Delft?). In this set up the public is allowed to sit and operate the controls and as the majority of the fuselage and wings are cut away the way the controls work is very clear to see.

We noted that the rudder pedals are very much the same in appearance as the ones used in the P-47 Thunderbolt, the same goes for the main landing gear that shortens itself first before retracting into the wheel wells.
The P-47 had a similar system to enable the gear legs to retract.

Now, Alexander Kartveli designed both the P-47 and the F-84, did he use some parts of the P-47 in the F-84?????

I think that the two planes share a lot of common parts. When we assembled our F-84, I noticed several pieces including the rudder pedals that looked like they had been taken from a P-47.
