Better adverts than aircraft - Flight 1941 Botha and Bermuda

I don't know about that, but certainly Brewster gained prizes for incompetence and graft.

Blackburn Botha


Interesting that the artist has chosen to depict one prop stopping on take off. Realistic, but perhaps not what Blackburn would've wanted from their advertisement.

The Botha was one of those truly awful aircraft that should have been abandoned long before it was.

Sorry, should have said these were from the Flight digitised archive - the adverts are fun to 'flick' through, and as you say, so many are great for many different reasons!

A fellow member of the AirCrew Association used to fly Bothas. He had a dismal opinion of it. The minimum crew was 2 even for a short ferry flight as the fuel cocks were several feet behind the pilot and well beyond his reach. He summarised it as being "Gutless, under-powered, charmless and noisy!"
