Great photos Nate, thank you for sharing them! The majority of the warbirds pictured were owned by Bob Pond and based in Minnesota at the time, with the Planes of Fame East Museum. Since 1996/97 the aircraft have been based in California, as the museum collection was moved and renamed the Palm Springs Air Museum.

It still erks me that for ten years of my life the Planes of Fame East museum was only about a half an hour away from where I lived, and my family never took me out there to see it.

The other Mustang, "Ho Hun," is still being operated in the same markings as well.

Thanks John for all the info, this is probaly a long shot but does anyone else on here have photos from any of these shows?

It's been a long time, but I seem to recall the F-15 was an early A model from the McDonnell plant in St. Louis and not from an operational unit, hence the unusual markings. This would have been from the mid '80s, before the establishment of formal demo teams.

Would that B-17 have been Sentimental Journey?

I saw an F-15 in similar markings (possibly the same aircraft) at a Denver area airshow in 1985 (possibly Arapahoe Airport.) That was the only time I ever got to see the immortal Art Scholl perform, and the first time I ever saw Jimmy Franklin wring out his Waco.

Somewhere I've got some photos of "Ho Hun!" at an airshow at Jeffco in 1984..along with a certain two-seat Spitfire (the pilot even autographed an issue of Air Classics for me that had the Spit on the cover.)
