Hey guys!

We recently undertook another Landing gear retraction test on C-97G 52-2718. We not only did it electrically, but we went through emergency extension vis the hand crank, free-fall, and using the emergency flap motor.

This time, our Corporate Secretary, Jeff DeKonty, made a video. I posted on our website at www.spiritoffreedom.org

or directly

Remember this is a massive project and we need more support!

If y'all want/need any of the C-97 stuff we have here, please let me know ASAP! It's all about to find a new home.

Two QEC's, two flaps, both main gear, cowlings, nose section, etc.

I had asked one of your guys about this stuff before (just can't remember his name right now) and he said he had no interest in it, primarily because he didn't have anywhere to put it. But if there's interest in it now, I need to know soon please.

I'll help however I can.

Gary

Pat, Im not sure. A few years ago I would have said 50, but now....maybe 20 Worldwide.....

In the US? Hmm...Blumenthal's...The one in California, Us...that's all I can think of...

Buffalo Airways, Brooks Air Fuel, Aero UNion, and Northern Air Cargo are the only other operators I know of...

South African Airways Historic Flight has what, 3 of them? 2 original SAA and the DDA's R5D?

The 2 parked at North Weald are flyable, although thats questionable now.

Not really sure.....Anyone?

The QEC's have no paperwork with them. They'll really only be good for parts and basic engine cores (they actually still turn and aren't frozen up). We are going to be placing them on E-Pay very soon though, so if you need them, let me know as quick as you can. I'd rather them go to someone that could use them than someone else.

The nose section is pretty much gutted. The few instruments that weren't stolen were deliberately smashed with a ball peen hammer (or so it looks). I just aquired the nose section myself and it's about to have a new home at Austin Acres, but if y'all need it, I'll be happy to work something out with you.

E-mail me if y'all would like to work on this further.

Gary
