The earlier models of warbirds

Hi everyone,

I've always been very interested in the earlier models of warbirds. Like the SBD-2, P-40B, B-17C/D/E, SNJ-2, B-25B, BT-14 etc. Was wondering if anyone else shares my interest in the earlier models?

I wished more survived.

I just thought of this Nathan, since you have Oddball for your avtar you should have "woof woof" as your saying down at the bottom!
I've always like the early B-17's with the small tail. Jack do you have any to share?

I have always been fond of the Yale because of the very interesting transitional role it holds. In many ways I think it was one of the obvious steps from the "vintage" era to the warbirds.

I'm a big fan. I also include the P-39 in that group; it kinda seems to have that retro feel to it, IMHO. I think more attention seems to obviously go to the later models because they made all of the headlines. But lots of our hero aviators during the war cut their teeth on these early models.

The A-17, now that is one nice looking airplane! Here's some shots of the AFM example from my visit on the GML Sunday:

LOVE the 'tween wars stuff !! That A-17 is breathtaking ! Why is the PT-20 hanging from the rafters, tho ? It should be out flying, one of the prettiest aircraft ever built.

Should be able to get in/out of really soft fields with those.

Well to me a A-17 and A-17A are two different aircraft. Simular, but differant.

Im not nit picky about s/n just like to know what model is what.

The Curtiss SOC and Naval Aircraft Factory SON really float my cruiser. Beautiful, not bad airplane to fly.
