Neal, where's Texas ?

Texas is a large Republic that lies between the US and Mexico. People from there are known to be fiercely independent, and harbor one of the largest air forces in the world ! :drink3:

Well, Arizona boasts the third largest Air force in the world.

Texas might be big but....Pennsylvania is cooler. :P

I know, I just like speaking up for Texas. As far as anything "Yeller" I don't see any around here. Must be a "Northern Thing"

I'm told that some Americans envied the British having Yorkshire, so they invented Texas. Obviously that was after the failed attempt to build a copy of York. :D

Hei TJ,

No more fighting, ey? On the contrary I think we should restart the Swedish-Norwegian union. We get your oil and you get our national debt

The Finnish vistors, on the other hand, where the *beep* did they come from?!? Lets gather our joint viking forces (with even two Mustangs) and bring down those sauna loving monsters!

Careful Daniel -- maligning Texas is quite reasonable and understandable, but the poor misunderstood Finns? Notice my last name...

I've noticed your last name years ago, could you tell more about your roots? Any relation to Paavo...?

Well, I'm half Suomalainen -- my father (first name Niilo) was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan shortly after his parents immigrated from the old country after World War I. He spoke no English till he started grade school, and his mother never did learn any English. More than half my home town was Finn -- it was an iron mining and lumber town in those days, with many Finns in both industries. (It could be a rough place on Saturday night after payday, even in the 50s when I was growing up). My father fought in Patton's army during WW-II, and met my mother (a Texan, of all things) after the war when she was a WAC nurse and he briefly a physical education instructor at Camp Dix N. J. before discharge.

As first born my folks wanted to name me after my Dad but he insisted on making it Neal, because the American Army had such a difficult time with his "foreign" name during his service...

I am, however, thoroughly American, and speak no Finnish at all.

And no relation to Paavo, though I did meet him when I was a kid and he was visiting Finnish-American commnities on a speaking tour.
