There is a scale P-40 with a Ranger engine in the Glen Curtiss Museum in upstate NY. I spoke to the curator about it and he said it was donated because the builder flew it once or twice and scared himself, it was very underpowered. I find alot of the 5/8 and 3/4 scale replicas great to look at. offered to trade a flight to a couple of guys but no takers, or the weathe did not work out.

Wasn't it on the cover of Sport Aviation?

Yep. I stumbled across that issue in my Sport Aviation collection the other day.
Ross Grady in Canada? Maybe not, but that just popped into my head...
